Dealers recognize the quality of OSU Institute of Technology CAT® Dealer Prep graduates. The individuals coming out of the program are three years ahead of people coming out of a traditional Vo-Tech program.

Those in the two-year CAT program will spend half their time on campus for technical instruction on current products and equipment learning the latest diagnostic and service procedures. The rest of the time will be spent getting real-world training through paid internships at CAT dealerships.

Caterpillar dealers have a critical need for highly qualified, motivated and skilled employees who can diagnose problems, find solutions and perform equipment service and repair. The CAT program upgrades the skills of incoming service technicians and trains students to use recommended procedures, special tools and service information in order to maintain Caterpillar equipment.

Graduates with an Associate in Applied Science degree with a major in Diesel & Heavy Equipment who complete the CAT Dealer Prep Program become a part of team that helps get important work done like building projects and road construction.
