Students in OSU Institute of Technology’s Natural Gas Compression Program can enjoy a remarkable career working anywhere in the world, from a gas well a few miles from home to an offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

A significant contributor to the nation’s energy infrastructure, the natural gas compression industry brings natural gas from the well to the consumer. The industry needs high quality, well-trained technicians right now.

By utilizing industry-savvy faculty, state-of-the-art technologies and equipment, and strong industry connections, our students develop talents and skills in high-demand professions in the state, region and country.

The Natural Gas Compression program at OSUIT is taught by faculty with solid industry experience and supported by leading natural gas compression producers and suppliers. From engines to electronic controls, the curriculum is focused around hands-on instruction. The classroom and lab learning is then reinforced by internships offered by industry employers. Often, students are sponsored by Gas Processor Association (GPA) member companies who may provide scholarships or other means of educational assistance.

Students who have earned an Associate in Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance - Natural Gas Compression are prepared to understand new systems and components as they are introduced in the work environment. They are also able to effectively communicate technical information both verbally and in writing so they are ready to advance as opportunities develop.
